Katy Perry Responds to Taylor Swift Releasing Entire Back Catalog on Her Album Release Date: ‘I Can Only Do Me’

After sounding off about her ongoing feud with Taylor Swift throughout the press tour for her new album, Witness, Katy Perry revealed on her live stream over the weekend that she now only has love for her fellow pop star.

Coincidentally (or not), Swift, 27, released her entire back catalog on multiple streaming services at the same time Perry, 32, released her fifth studio album at midnight on Friday.

Sitting down with Today Show‘s Natalie Morales on Monday, Perry told her “I don’t know, I can only do me” when asked if the unexpected move by Swift bothered her.

She also claimed her new single, Swish Swish, was not specifically written about Swift (whose hit “Bad Blood” has long been rumored to be about Perry). “No, it’s not about anyone in particular,” she insisted. “And I’ve said that on the record. That might be your story, but my story, which I know is true for me, is that I’ve had not just one person bully me or one person hold me down or met one troll.”

“All I need to say to her is I love her, and God bless her on her journey,” she continued. “And that’s it.”

Swift has long kept mum about the rift and has never confirmed she wrote her track about Perry, only telling Rolling Stone that the song was inspired by another female artist who tried to “sabotage an entire arena tour.”

During a candid interview with The Thrive Global Podcast on Saturday during Perry’s weekend-long livestream, the “Chained to the Rhythm” singer said she was ready to let the feud go.

“I forgive her and I’m sorry for anything I ever did, and I hope the same from her … I love her, and I want the best for her. And I think she’s a fantastic songwriter,” she told Thrive CEO Arianna Huffington. “Maybe I don’t agree with everything she does and she doesn’t agree with everything I do, but I just really, truly want to come together in a place of love and forgiveness and understanding and compassion.”
