First of all , isn’t she a slaying QUEEN?
Oh yes! she is Brittney Rolin (Resia) hailing from Brooklyn, New York (originally From Haiti).
Guess what! she grew up as a child performing musicals in her grand mother’s backyard with her brothers and cousins, they would create story lines , do talent shows/dance competitions and sing music together . Yeah! Unknowingly for the little children at the time, it gave them an opportunity to use all their imaginations to create great family memories and also helped them find their career lines which has obviously brought RESIA here .
TyPrittyBlog met with our first 2017 Featured artist and of course it was an amazing time with her.

- WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO APART FROM MUSIC?
Apart from music i like to watch horror films, read astrology and i enjoy cooking.
- HOW DID YOU COME ABOUT YOUR STAGE NAME?
I got my stage name from my maternal great grandmother. She was the first woman in her province to own her own business and holds a great legacy in my family tree.
- WHAT ARE YOUR FONDEST MUSICAL MEMORIES?
My Fondest musical memories were as a child performing musicals in my grand mother’s backyard with my brothers and cousins. we would create story lines, dance and sing all while forcing our parents to watch. Unknowingly at the time it gave us an opportunity to use all our imaginations to create great family memories.

Still speaking with Our Artist (Resia);
- WHAT WAS YOUR FIRST RECORD LIKE?
My first record was called “LOVE ON FIRE”. It is a ballad about LOVE. I was 18 years old when i created it, i just remember i was so excited to get in the studio and create it. “LOVE ON FIRE” came about by me just dreaming about the perfect lover and what i would want my lover to possess. The process took about 3 hours and it impacted my music from then on because it was my piece of art that i showcased to the world.
Here you go! Listen /watch “LOVE ON FIRE” below…
WHERE YOU INFLUENCED BY OLD RECORDS AND TAPES? WHICH ONES?
I was and still am influenced by old records. Some specific ones would be “Time after Time” and “Girls just wanna have fun” by Cyndi Lauper, “Turn the lights down low”, “Zion” and “killing me softly” by Lauryn Hill, “Make me whole” by Amel Larrieux . Those are just a few that i love but i could go on for days.
WHICH FAMOUS MUSICIANS DO YOU ADMIRE ? AND WHY?
I admire Lauryn Hill because she is a lyricist and spoke often about the power of women. She is a role model to many people and spoke to the hearts of so many women. I also admire Biggie Smalls because he is from Brooklyn and showed me through his music that “if you have a dream, CHASE IT!”
WHICH FAMOUS MUSICIAN WOULD YOU WANT TO HAVE A COLLABORATION WITH IN FUTURE?
I would love to collaborate with Lauryn Hill, that will be a dream come true.
HOW MANY PUBLIC PERFORMANCES HAVE YOU HAD?
I have performed in so many performances that i have honestly lost count. My favorite performance however, was when i sang at SOB’s in New York. It was an honor to be on a stage that is historic in New York and was an amazing experience.
SOB’s is a live music venue in New York where many legendary artists have performed.
DO YOU GET NERVOUS BEFORE A PERFORMANCE?
I always get nervous before a performance but once my song starts playing and i start singing, the feeling of the nervousness goes away immediately because the love i have for what i do conquers even my biggest fears.
HOW DO YOU BALANCE YOUR MUSIC WITH OTHER OBLIGATIONS?
Music is currently my full time obligation. Fortunately, with the love and support of my family, i have the opportunity to focus on my music and building my career year round.
WHAT ADVISE WOULD YOU GIVE TO BEGINNERS WHO ARE NERVOUS?
For the beginners who are nervous, i will advise them to remember the one reason they are doing this and in doing so, to be mindful that performing will always be something bigger than yourself and the audience need to hear that.
We totally enjoyed this time with Resia and we hope you enjoyed it too…
